Overview:
Make readiness something the team can prove. You will shape acceptance criteria from design onward, lead independent commissioning resources and verify that power, cooling and controls perform together before infrastructure reaches customers. Your work will connect engineering intent to dependable operation in some of the most demanding facility environments.

Our client is building and operating the power, cooling and supporting infrastructure for high-density AI. This current program includes two facility retrofit projects supporting NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 and Vera Rubin deployments. An independent voice in readiness decisions, access to specialist test resources, and influence from early design through operational handover.

Job Duties
  • Define the commissioning plan, test stages, system boundaries, acceptance matrix, witness points and readiness gates with Engineering, Operations and the customer.
  • Review design and control sequences early; incorporate test access, instrumentation and factory/site testing into delivery schedules.
  • Manage owner-retained independent commissioning resources; ensure qualified electrical/mechanical coverage at overlapping site tests.
  • Validate construction prerequisites, pre-functional checks, equipment startup, calibrated instruments and approved safe test procedures.
  • Plan electrical and thermal load simulation, ramps/steps, equipment loss, cooling failover, utility loss/recovery and communication-loss tests against approved requirements.
  • Record raw results and exceptions; classify deficiencies, require corrective work and retesting, and prevent incomplete tests from being reported as passed.
  • Coordinate all live-system tests with the authorized Operations lead and approved MOPs, boundaries and rollback criteria.
  • Verify training, SOPs/MOPs/EOPs, as-builts, spares, maintenance records and agreed stabilization tests before recommending turnover.

Requirements:
  • 8 or more years in critical-facility commissioning, including leadership of electrical, mechanical and integrated tests.
  • Evidence of delivering a documented commissioning program through deficiency closure and turnover.
  • Practical liquid-cooling testing expertise or demonstrated comparable hydraulic/thermal testing competence with specialist support.
  • Relevant technical degree or equivalent engineering/testing experience; strong control-sequence analysis and reporting skills.
  • Experience that stands out
  • Critical facility liquid-cooling and AI/HPC test experience; commissioning certification; rack OEM/CDU test interfaces; live-site retrofit commissioning.

Your impact
  • First 30 days: publish acceptance matrix, commissioning scope gaps and resource plan.
  • By day 60: approve test methods, witness requirements, load simulation and deficiency classifications.
  • By day 90: maintain traceable readiness evidence and complete prerequisites for scheduled testing without unsupported acceptance claims.

Authority and collaboration
Withhold owner test/readiness concurrence where approved criteria are unmet and escalate independently to the CEO. Final commercial handover is authorized by the VP only with required technical and operations concurrence and contract-defined approvals. Testing safety and operating authorization are not delegated by this title alone.

Working Arrangements
This role requires substantive on-site presence at assigned Maryland facilities and travel between sites. Planned off-hours participation may be needed during commissioning or live-system interventions, with coordinated backup coverage.

Level One Personnel is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status or other status protected by law.
